Cannon Chronicles
Mrs Cannon as an old lady, circa 1890's, born approximately 1825. She was the mother of Mary Anne Cannon. Mary Cannon would later go on to marry William James Hirst (a.k.a. James William Hurst) of industrial Oldham, and later still would marry another William, this time Cooke of rural Felsham, Suffolk.
Mary Cannon came to Oldham, Lancashire from Ballentine in County Mayo, Southern Ireland (Eire) at least by the spring of 1881. She was 20 years old, and was reponsible for her 14 year old sister Ann. They lived at number 9 Back Dickenson Street in the Above Town district of the then prospering Lancashire cotton manufacturing town.
